Gas Tax
The gas tax is scheduled to rise in Michigan in January of 2017. The gas tax right now in Michigan is already much higher than other states. Many people are not too happy about the tax increase. The tax is already 30.54 cents per gallon in Michigan and is supposed to rise another 7.3 cents. When a Michigan civilian was asked what they thought about the gas tax they responded with this “I think it's stupid tax to increase. Its already high enough, I think that the people who decided to up this tax were thinking about the younger teens and people who are only making minimum wage to pay this tax. It's just downright ridiculous.” Here are what more people have to say about it.
Minimum Wage
Minimum wage has made a increase in Michigan to $8.90 from $8.50. This became in effect on January 1st in Michigan statewide. Many people were happy about the rise in the money as they just get to make more money per hour. When a Michigan citizen who is making minimum wage she responded with this “The rise in the wage is helping me a lot with the two kids i have and driving back and forth from work everyday, especially since the gas tax is supposed to rise it was good thing this rise came just in time.”
Cotton Bowl Champs??The Western Michigan Broncos played in the Cotton Bowl on January 2nd versus the Wisconsin Badgers. Western was 13-0 going into the game and looking to keep their streak alive. Western came out slow in the first half giving the Badgers 14-0 lead early in the game, then all of sudden the Broncos turned it around with a rushing touchdown by their quarterback Zach Terrell. The Broncos played a good hard fought game but it just wasn't enough to take down the Badgers the final score was 16-24 in favor of the Badgers. Westerns head coach P.J Fleck took a job at the University of Minnesota for more money, so the Broncos are on the look for a new head coach for next season.
